Meet Robin Cameron, MLIS, a member of the Serials Solutions Training Team.
What is your professional background?
Twenty five years in public and corporate library management. In my first library job, they wheeled in the most amazing big box thing from a company called Xerox.
What do you like most about working for Serials Solutions?
The ability to be able to create and develop products in direct response to KNOWING our customer librarians. Plus lots of us quirky librarians work here; the most common conversation is how to describe our jobs to strangers.
What do you find most exciting about the future of the library?
Exciting and scary is the concept of maintaining libraries without much in the way of a VISIBLE, touchable, collection of materials. It’s hard to create a display of hot new electronic titles! Librarians will always have the same core values but will have radically different and ever-changing channels to connect users with the info they seek.
Who is your favorite author?
I’m a librarian who doesn’t have one favorite author. Can I pick 8?
Do you have a favorite library? If so, what is it?
Our local “Fremont” branch of Seattle Public Library – it’s an musty old Spanish style Carnegie with creaky floors, comfy furniture and a crazy array of users.
