Community & Tools
One important benefits of the Summon service is its strong user community and the training, support, and resources we offer. Sharing stories, discussing ideas and providing feedback are important activities that benefit all libraries striving to optimize the discovery experience at their library – and provide us with knowledge to keep up with your library’s and users’ needs.
Mailing Lists (ListServs)
Clients of the Summon service can select from the general Summon clients ListServ, a ListServ specifically for developers using the Summon API as well as several regionally-based mailing lists. These forums provide you an opportunity to communicate and collaborate with your fellow colleagues and for us to support you and with up-to-date details on our services.
The Summon community wiki is designed to allow members of the Summon community to share information and materials with colleagues at other institutions using the Summon service. Moderated by clients, the wiki is a great place to share tips and tricks, code snippets and scripts, marketing examples, and more.
Libraries receive unlimited support and, thanks to our SaaS model and agile development methodology, frequent and free service enhancements. The Serials Solutions Support Center contains documentation as well as ways to communicate questions and requests to our Support Team.
A variety of informational and instructional webinars are available throughout the year. From client-led sessions describing the impact of the Summon service in their libraries to service updates from our product management team; from introductory topics to role-specific sessions for reference librarians to open forum Q&A’s our live and pre-recorded webinars provide an engaging way to learn more.
User Groups are a great way to share knowledge and provide "real life" opportunities for learning from shared experiences in using our services. From seasoned users to novices, user groups offer you the unique opportunity to learn from your peers and collaborate through practical user experience. User groups take place in conjunction with major conferences worldwide as well as smaller, regionally focused events.
For libraries eager to understand how their discovery service is being used, the Client Administration tool in the Serials Solutions Client Center provides access to usage reports including top search queries, usage breakdown by time of day, number of searches and more.
